With two locations in Calgary, I’ve been wanting to try eating at Famoso for a while. They boast unique, quality ingredients and an authentic, Italian cooking process. They did not disappoint.
My overall experience at Famoso was phenomenal, with the exception of a few minor things. The scenery of the restaurant was very modern, with huge windows facing towards the street. When I first arrived, it took around 20 minutes to be seated. When you are seated, customers must get up and order at the till. I found this slightly problematic as the line began to stretch through the restaurant. I ordered the sweet barbeque chicken pizza as well as the fire roasted tomato bisque soup. The waiter explained that the food would be out quickly, as the pizzas only take around 90 seconds to cook on their state-of-the-art Italian stone oven.
Once the tomato bisque had arrived it tasted smooth with a few tiny tomatoes. The bisque was splendid, especially with the flatbread on the side.
Minutes later the main dish arrived. The pizza was definitely the most enjoyable part of my meal due to the tasty crust and the plentiful amount of barbeque sauce. Tomatoes and chicken were scattered perfectly around the pizza.
Overall I would rate Famoso a 4.5/5. Perfect food, but an odd ordering system that I disliked.
