Traditional sports leagues like the NFL, and UFC have used this model for a long time.  Now, it will be the model for esports.  But even better.  According to the Creative Director for B-Site, Duncan Shields, “This will not be Disney, or pleb level bullsh*t.”

B-Site is a new, North American esports organization that will host a Counter-Strike league in the near future.  Top teams like Astralis, Cloud9, and MIBR are rumoured to be part of their inaugural season.  If this, along with all the claims that Duncan Shields has made, turn out to be true, B-Site will be a disrupting force.  They may be able to solve one of the largest issues with Esports: financial stability.

The competition for esports talent has grown.  The salaries for players have increased significantly.  Just recently, Huni, a player for Dignitas, signed a two-year 2.2 million dollar contract.  These are the types of salaries that players are starting to expect.  Yet, the entertainment value from their skill alone can’t justify such a high price tag.  With salaries starting to reach the level of traditional sports salaries, a team’s income needs to start rising to that level as well.  If B-Site can do this, through shoulder content, and a new, unique, esports experience, they might just be able to reach that goal.
