A good 27 days have passed in this New Year and with the pressure of exams off my shoulders, I still felt like I had something I needed to finish. So I checked and found out that I had a mini-series I had to finish. So, before I leave this mini-series hanging any longer, I present the crush: the casual, the best, and the one that works.

Ah crushes: one of life’s biggest teases when we’re growing up. Does she like me? Does he not? It’s a painstaking guessing game that we all get involved in sooner or later. In my experience of rolling the dice to the game plenty of times, I’ve been able to pick up three types of crushes: the casual, the best, and the one that works. Each crush is significantly different from the other as well as unique, so just in case you have a crush and don’t know which is which, or if you’re just looking for a fun post about crushes, then this post is for you.

1) The Casual Crush

Song choice: AJ Rafael’s We Could Happen because it’s light, easy to sing to and fun to listen to when thinking about your casual crush

Crush information: Just in case you haven’t read through my post about the casual crush, the casual crush is a crush that stands by its name. Casual crushes don’t have a lot of spark because you don’t know a lot about your crush and your crush might not know a lot about you, but yet it’s the things you do know about them that keeps the crush intact. Your casual crush hooks you in with their good looks, pretty smile, and sincerity when they’re with their friends. Notice how the vocabulary isn’t that powerful because that’s what it’s supposed to mean: casual crushes are sparks that will either die out or ignite a fire.

Typical casual crushes: classmates, people around the hallway in your school, those students that you only know the name of, that one really attractive person in either the hallway or in one of your classes

2) The Best Crush

Song choice: Parachute’s She is Love due to the lyrics of the song. Take a listen and you’ll see what I mean.

Crush information: They know everything about you, and you know everything about them. You’re into practically the same interests, enjoy time with each other, and from my experience, trust each other with HUGE secrets. That’s a quick definition of a best crush. Best crushes can feel like the greatest chance for success due to the fact that yes, the two of you practically should be dating already, but keep in mind that going for a best crush also poses the greatest risk. No matter the length of time you’ve been with them, and it takes a considerably long time to have this kind of crush on someone, you’re planning a new world of pain and happiness altogether, so before you stupidly risk everything on the likelihood you might be theirs for a long time, think it through for a while. If you’re willing to risk it all, then go ahead. But if you’re not, there’s nothing wrong with that: you’ll still have a close friend by your side.

Typical best crushes: pretty much anyone whom you’ve known for a considerable amount of time. For example, a best friend for longer than 2-3 years

3) The Crush that Works

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5tTRaq3E8I

Song choice: Anna Scouten’s cover of First Day of my Life by Bright Eyes, accompanied with one of the cutest couples on Youtube, Pewdie (Felix) and Cutie (Marzia). Do I really need to explain why? Listen to the song with the video and you will understand.

Crush information: The title is self-explanatory: you did it. The girl/guy of your dreams, all of your struggles paid off. From here on out, your days will be devoted to finding everything that you can to make them happy. At the same time, it’ll be hard to make sure you don’t screw up because you have their heart in your hands, despite what anyone else might say. Your first/second/third date will always feel like a new chapter in a book and every heartache between the two of you will be the plot twist. Every stuffed bear you’ll give them, every tender kiss they’ll give back, it’ll always bring you back to this thought, “I did it.”

Typical crushes that work: it’s not a game of chance. If there’s a strong romantic connection between the two of you, it’s going to work. Trust me.

2015 is a whole new year of opportunities so I’m not sure how long I’m going to keep Dean’s playlist alive, but I like it. Alright, like Bryan Singer did with X-MEN, Days of Future Past, it’s time to start again.
