Well for the past year, I have been involved with Junior Achievement, a business program for students in high school. You create a business company, product and meet with entrepreneurs. It’s truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. When you’re involved with Junior Achievement, several opportunities come your way such as the Next Generation Leaders Forum. This year, I applied and got to attend NGL, which is a weeklong camp held at Queen’s University. I got to meet people from Cayman Islands, Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Jamaica, United States, India and Hong Kong!
What an unforgettable summer— we got to meet the owner and founder of the Four Seasons Hotel, Isadore Sharp, and many other entrepreneurs. A couple thoughts stuck in my head during the presentations including, “What would it be like to meet you?” “Social Media is not magic, build relationships- and technology will facilitate the magic.” You are truly inspired by all these entrepreneurs.
I strongly encourage you all to join Junior Achievement as it helps you learn what it’s like to be in the business world. You become so close to your team and get to choose the department you wish to work in: Information Technology, Human Resources, Production, Finance or Marketing and Sales. You work with business people, have the chance to win scholarships, learn how to run different departments and gain a tremendous amount of skills.
Join Junior Achievement, you won’t regret it!
IMPORTANT: When registering for Junior Achievement put in additional notes: youthareawesome.com. The last day to register is October 3rd. Spots fill up quickly.
