Hey all, I’m back with some of my new favourite horror movies, just in time for the last few days until the horrors of school come back (no pun intended, but intended). They may not be suitable for all viewing ages (sorry kiddos), but I do have film ratings beside each film. Most are available on streaming services, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, but if they’re not, you know what to do (deep-dive and search the deep dark side of the interweb). (p.s. they are not in any particular order, just some of my favourites). Also in quotes, are some very lovely descriptions created by my friend dearest, so you’re welcome. Enjoy!
- The Grudge
- “jumpscares that will rattle your bones” *R*
- The Conjuring
- “storyline is compelling” *R*
- Malevolent
- “weird sibling movie” *R*
- Resident Evil
- “gory zombie movie” *R*
- Hush
- “chilling intruder/slasher movie” *R*
- Halloween
- “relatable AF” *R*
- #Alive
- “one of the scariest zombie movies ever – like I can’t” *R*
- Us
- “most twisted, concerning, traumatic experiences from this movie live in my head rent-free” * R*
- A Quiet Place
- “impacted my life with a quiet boom” *first one is PG-13, sequel is R*
- 13 Cameras
- “stalking a family through 13 cameras” *MA*
I just realized this later as I was researching for ratings: these movies are all rated R, except like two. Not to worry, next month, I’ll have a blog post dedicated to some of my favourite coming-of age films, there should be some solid PG-13s in there 🙂
Also, these are more contemporary movies released in the past decade or so, I’ll be making another blog post for some beloved classics – stay tuned!
Happy watching!
