If I say that a 16-year-old boy has a job, most of us automatically picture him working as a waiter or standing on the floor at a retail store. But how many of you thought of an entrepreneur?
Many successful businessmen have started out as young entrepreneurs. All you need to start your own business is an idea, and the determination to materialize that idea.
Here are a few steps to start you off.
1. Think of the gaps between services provided and your expectations/needs. You might come up with some crazy ideas, but all ideas sound crazy before they materialize. Who in their right minds in the early 1950s would have thought of a machine that washes and dries clothes on mere clicks. But someone did, and we have the washer/drier today.
2. Look around for resources. Keep an eye on business councils around you and research youth-orientated business projects. You might want to find something like http://www.cybf.ca/. Also start looking for the legal processes followed when starting a business. Keep yourself informed.
3. While looking for resources, start making your Business Plan. This will be a formal document explaining your project (proposal) to your probable financers. This document will contain the technical nitty gritties (including your equation of profit/loss) of your project.
4. Lastly, start building your own network, speak up and share your ideas. You never know when you meet some like-minded person who may help you in your venture.
