Battlefield 3 is trying to become the new king of first person shooters and this game looks great. It uses the new Frostbite 2 engine so we can expect realistic animations, huge maps, great lighting, and destructible environment. Of course we don’t yet know how the game is going to play; we can expect a huge emphasis on team based gameplay.
Battlefield 3 attempts at a realistic military experience where strategy and teamwork will lead to a victory. But there is a problem with this kind of play style, if you are stuck on a team of bad players, you’ll lose despite how good you might be. It does not seem like battlefield 3 will offer superior players the option to “carry” your team.

Assault – armed with an assault rifle and given the option of revive kit (heal teammates) or grenade launcher (increased firepower)
Support – armed with a light machine gun and given the ability to hand out ammunition to your teammates and provide covering fire which is said to affect the enemies’ vision and accuracy
Engineer – armed with a submachine gun and given a repair tool to fix friendly vehicles and a rocket launcher to destroy enemy vehicles
Recon – armed with a sniper rifle and given C4 explosives

The campaign is said to be a 12 hour long experience where gamers will play as different characters in a world wide conflict taking place in 2014. An article on kotaku.com states that the BF3 campaign will be inspired by movies such as Generation Kill, Hurt Locker, and Black Hawk Down. So far we have seen footage from two campaign missions, (warning: violence and coarse language) fault line and thunder run.
Battlefield 3 is set to be released on October 25, 2011.
