Airplanes A Poem By Audrey Niksic

The airplane can be annoying

With all of the germs

And the kid behind you that could be a soccer star

And the woman beside you who loves to go barefoot

Let’s not forget the claustrophobic washrooms with the toilets that are too loud

And the baby that is afraid of flying that can be heard throughout the cabin

The luggage restrictions, the cold air

But what about the magical feeling of going somewhere new,

The butterfly that you get in your stomach when the plane drops a little bit,

Nearing the touchdown

The scenery of the ombré sky and the land down below

And my favorite part

You can  travel across the world in no time at all

I once was flying to Toronto,

Because of the time change between there and home

We landed at the same time we took off

The magic of planes is what  I love most

It’s like airplanes are my long lost home

That I get to visit every few months or so

I feel more comfortable flying way up high than crossing the street alone

So here’s to all the seat kickers and barefoot daydreamers

Thanks to you I have had some interesting experiences, on my little home in the sky.
