PARKLUXE 2013- The runway where my dreams came to life.
My intention before attending this event was initially to create a Vlog, but today I decided to share with you my short and vivid experience of living in the world of fashion. If you recognize my writing or know me, you’d know that I am in love with the entire performing arts industry, whether it is modelling, acting, singing or dancing: I’m in! About one and a half weeks ago I attended PARKLUXE with two of my co-bloggers: Lily and Louisa! PARK was a fashion show promoting local artists and rekindling culture.
But in my own words I wouldn’t say that was all PARKLUXE was about. Personally, it was about art, connecting with people who have the same interests as you, making contacts, getting noticed and even better naturally fitting in to your designated spot on this planet. Okay, okay.. maybe the last one was a bit of an over exaggeration but that is definitely how I felt. That fashion show was somewhere I felt confident, it was a place of comfort, and a place where everything felt destined from the moment I walked in. In the first five minutes of my arrival, the photographers had already snapped five pictures of me! Not to sound self-centered but I love being in front of the camera, its an internal type of happiness. For me this event took me to a different world, one of sophistication, of talent, of art. I loved getting dolled up and attending the event, in some ways I even felt like I was apart of the industry.
That night lit my inspiration candle that had seemed to fade away for a while, and has now brought me back on my feet. I learned that dreaming isn’t enough, you must work to achieve your dreams. To be honest, if you sincerely love your dream it shouldn’t even be an issue because your dream should be what inspires you to breathe and smile. That night I realized that the “arts” is my personal place of comfort, I’ve always loved performing and if I ever wanted to truly be apart of such a brilliant industry it was going to take a lot more that just day-dreaming and fantasizing about living my dream; I’d actually have to utilize my time to the best of my abilities in order to take time out for what I aspire to do one day, being in front of the camera to act and model.
Parkluxe taught me that their are millions of people out their with the same dream as you and a question arose in my head…what makes me more special then all those with the same dream as me?
The answer of course was the amount of dedication and determination I am willing to put into achieving my dreams, and that goes out to everyone with a dream- no matter what it is. If you want to achieve you must be willing to go the extra mile and sacrifice the insignificant things in life in order to obtain what really matters to you.
Perhaps one day in the near future I’ll attend another one of these amazing fashion shows and this time be walking the runway instead of watching… 😉 And I truly encourage you to work hard to accomplish your dreams, because they are truly what make your heart smile.
Thank you PARKLUXE for making my first fashion show so insightful and memorable.
