Calling all witches! If you are a basic witch like me, you must have been just as excited as me to hear about this year’s Halloween themed Starbucks Frappuccino, the “Witch’s Brew”. This drink is a witch’s dream. Yum! Toad’s breath, bat warts, and lizard scales, the perfect ingredients for a witch. I usually do not try most of Starbucks’ themed frappuccino’s because I am afraid that I will not enjoy the drink and waste my money. However, I found that the “Witch’s Brew’s,” appearance, ingredients, and name fascinating; ultimately, this motivated me to try the drink.

This frappuccino is a beautiful, creamy, purple drink with a taste you might not suspect. At first, I thought that the drink would taste something like grapes or a simple vanilla bean Frappe dyed purple. However, I was tricked, the Frappe tasted like an orange creamsicle treat. I guess you could say I got both a trick and a treat. Adding to this creamy mixture are chia seeds providing a crunchy yet slightly slimy experience. On top is your ordinary whip cream but, it is also sprinkled with green icing sugar. If you were curious, the purple colour is supposed to represent a toad’s breath, the chia seeds represent bat warts, and the green icing sugar symbolizes the lizard scales.

In all honesty, the frappuccino may taste really good to others but for me personally, I did not enjoy it. This is because I do not actually really like the taste of orange creamsicles. The slimness of the chia seeds also made me dislike it more. In my opinion, I feel like I wasted my money. If I were to rate this drink, I would give it a 4/10; although, if you like orange creamsicles I believe you would rate this an 8/10. The cost of the “Witch’s Brew” is also around fifty cents more expensive than your average frappuccino. I highly recommend that people who want to try this drink should order a small (tall) but, people who appreciate the flavour of orange creamsicles should get a medium (grande). If you are really interested in buying this drink, you better hop onto a broomstick and fly to your nearest Starbucks before they sell out.
