SHAD has been the most transformative, life-changing experience I have ever had. Here are 50 of the life lessons I have learned to live by that I would like to share with you.

- Perfection is impossible, but in pursuing perfection, we will catch excellence
- There is no winning or losing: it’s all about the experience
- University is a place to explore and discover yourself
- Call people in – don’t call them out
- Assume 100% of responsibility in a conflict, because you can’t control the other person
- You can be passionate about something but not attached
- I care but I don’t mind (Be unaffected by the outcome)
- There is no world: there are only 8 billion different interpretations of it
- If you change one person’s perspective, you change their whole world
- Profit is the outcome of achieving your purpose and changing the world
- Don’t assume what people want: go talk to them
- Don’t play to not lose, play to win
- Playing it safe can be risky
- Public speaking should be you having 100 conversations with 100 different people in the room, instead of 1 conversation with the 100 people
- Rather try and fail, than fail to try
- When driving, honk if you love Jesus, text if you want to meet him
- Be happy with what you have
- Life = experiences + people
- Work really hard for your grades, but work twice as hard to make your grades the least impressive part of yourself
- Don’t think outside the box, think without a box
- If you don’t ask, the answer is always no
- The thing that people want the most is to be appreciated
- To appreciate someone, listen to what they have to say, thank and acknowledge them, and say their name
- You have 2 ears and 1 mouth – use them in that proportion
- Leadership is the art of getting people to get something done because they WANT to get something done
- Things are changing faster now than they ever have been, but they are changing slower than it ever will be compared to the future
- The pursuit of greatness can never be achieved, so always strive to get better
- How well we communicate is determined not by how well we say things, but how well we are understood
- Becoming is better than being
- Nothing is more common than talented people who are unsuccessful
- Push yourself to fatigue, not exhaustion
- Sell your cleverness and buy bewilderedness
- People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care
- Be the leader you would follow
- Don’t fear knowledge
- Coming together is the beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success
- If you keep killing time, time will turn around and kill you
- Wonder about everything
- Not all questions need to be answered
- Need can always be met, while greed can never be fulfilled
- People are buying too many things they don’t need with money they don’t have to impress people that don’t matter
- Anyone can make a difference anytime
- Missed opportunities sometimes last the longest
- Plant the seed of connectivity and watch it flourish
- You are unrepeatable: there is magic about you that is all your own
- All you need is 20 seconds of insane courage and I promise you something great will come out of it
