There is a lot to see this summer at the Calgary Zoo. The Calgary Zoo features many animals around the globe both locally and foreign. Even if you have visited the zoo before, it’s definitely worth it to go back again. In this blog, I will show you one of the special features the zoo has offered.
Usually you can never miss butterflies in the summer but in Calgary they are hard to find. The Calgary Zoo butterfly garden at the Enmax Conservatory is similar to the tropical rain forest. The zoo imports cocoons from butterfly farms around the world different each week to show the varieties of butterflies.
The cocoon will break daily in the cocoon display and release into the garden around 10:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. As you walk around the garden, not only you will encounter the beautiful butterfly but also different tropical plants; my favourite one is the water lily.
