Youth Week has brought Pandemonium Club to life at the Calgary Public Library in Forest Lawn. Several teens attended this after-school event in order to celebrate their love for the City of Bones books! Although I have only read the first book in the Mortal Instruments series, I very much enjoyed it along with the movie. I don’t generally indulge in popular YA novels, but after lots of pressure by many friends, I finally gave in. (Peer pressure can be good sometimes.)
All the participants at this event dressed up like shadow hunters and many were decorated with ruins. The event leader even went all out and got decked with good gadgets and weapons seen in the movie.
There were trivia games, testing the knowledge on the book facts which counted for points. Bonus points were awarded at the end for having the best costume. Aside from that, there were many other arts and crafts activities available as well.
Although I did not get to experience the full event (for reasons I will not go into right now, I’m looking at you, public transit), what I did get to see seemed like a lot of fun. Keep scrolling down for some photos that I took of the activities all the youth got to partake in!
Aside from physical activities, there was a strenuous trivia match which was dominated by one very smart Shadow Hunter. Prizes were awarded for their performance in their training, awards consisting of a copy of the City of Glass book and movie passes. No one was left out as there were t-shirts and City of Bones decorated mirrors for everyone.
Overall, everybody absolutely loved this event and no one went home without a smile on their face! When asked what could have been better about the event, I was met with a resounding, “You guys should do this for Divergent!”
