Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending PARKLUXE 2013, an event aimed to celebrate local artists and designers. This particular event took place at the Telus SPARK center and was attended by many lovers of art and fashion, as well as professionals. I was utterly amazed at every detail of the fashion show itself, from the talented designers, to the fierce, edgy models, to the professionalism of the entire atmosphere.

The event featured two separate shows, each featuring different designers and their very own collections. Though unfortunately, I was unable to stay for both showings, I was able to access photos of the two shows from Zed Vitaly Abosh, a professional photographer working for FSE. Below is a sneak peek at some of the designs present at the show, you can find the list of amazing designers featured here.

To be a model is to be the dazzling, lasting canvas on which masterpieces are displayed, and the models at PARKLUXE demonstrated this concept perfectly. Every one of these beautiful ladies rocked the runway in stunningly clad outfits, each is a moving work of art. However, the most vital aspect of a fashion show, naturally, is the fashion. What I found very pleasing about the collections displayed at the showings was the ability of designers to create outfits that are completely glamorous, yet maintain a practicality that allows for everyday wear. I find that not enough collections nowadays promote the beauty of practical wear, which is partially why I enjoyed PARKLUXE’s showings very much.

Overall, I felt that the event was unlike anything I’ve experienced before, and was fantastic in every aspect. The attendees were as glamorous as the models, and the atmosphere was incredibly posh and beautiful. PARK has done an astoundingly great job at promoting artists and refining culture, as the show unveiled the extent of local talents.
