The wonders of tea tree oil

My favorite aspect of tea tree oil lies in its aroma; tea tree oil possesses a piney, minty smell that instantly invigorates me even when I’m exhausted. Waking up is the most difficult part of going to school for me, but with my new homemade tea tree oil scented car freshener, I know I’ll be energized as soon as I jump in my car. But aside from its powerful fragrance, tea tree oil has many other uses as well. Have you considered incorporating tea tree oil into your daily routine? Some of its useful properties may prove to be important for you as well.

You can purchase tea tree oil from various locations including Lush, The Body Shop, and The Beehive. I recommend The Beehive because the tea tree oil they sell comes at a higher concentration than that of any other store I know. I find it’s easier to dilute strong essential oil than to use more of the weaker sort. Tea tree oil is sold at The Beehive at $12 per 10mL bottle.

Headache cure: This is a trick my grandma taught me when I was little. Simply dab a few drops of tea tree oil on your fingertips and use it to massage your temples.

Acne treatment: Add a drop of tea tree oil to your cleanser. Tea tree oil helps prevent oil build up and dry out acne, just be sure to keep away from the eye area.

Dandruff Prevention: Massaging a few drops of tea tree oil onto your scalp could help prevent and clear away dandruff. Use 2-3 times a week for optimum results.

And last but not least, let me tell you about me favorite car freshener scent. Depending on how strong you want the scent to be, use a small piece of fabric (preferably cotton) and anywhere from 2 drops of tea tree oil to soaking the whole sheet. Use a needle and thread to string up the fabric and tie it around the air vents or rear view window of your car. Say goodbye to drowsiness.
