Food Truck Review: Braizen Food Truck

As summer fully hits Calgary, Food trucks are starting to really hit the road. And nothing quite brings the heat as much as the flashy Braizen Food Truck. The first thing I noticed about the truck was the flames that decorated the front. I took a picture, but I later on realized that it didn’t do the truck any justice in how epic the flames really looked. This is a picture I found on the Facebook page of this Chef-Driven cuisine Truck.

The idea behind the cuisine for this truck is to combine different Asian, Classic American, Middle Eastern and South American foods. I really love fusion foods so I was really excited to try this truck out. But when I went searching for it around Fort Calgary and Prince’s Island park on Canada Day, it was nowhere to be found. After walking a good distance, I finally smartened up and decided to call them. Only then was I able to track down it’s location and find something to eat. After walking a yet another good distance, I treated myself to Jerk Chicken Sliders with pineapple slaw. I really didn’t know what I was expecting, the menu had a pretty good variety in types of cuisine; it offered curry as well as Japanese Soba noodles.

Jerk Chicken Sliders

The food was pretty good. The flavoring was nice. The pineapple added a little bit of sweetness to the jerk chicken, which I really enjoyed. But the meat was a little colder than I expected. But the thing about the sliders is that they are nearly impossible to eat without getting food all over the place (you can imagine how much fun I had with that). It was an interesting experience, though I do recommend eating them with a spoon or fork. Next time I would like to try the Harrisa Chicken stew (mainly because I have no idea what it is). The Jerk Chicken Sliders weren’t my favourite dish, but I’m still interested in seeing what this truck has to offer. Overall, the aesthetics of the truck is awesome and I like the idea of mixed cuisine. I’ll definitely give it one more shot.
