You hear a melodic, bubbly stream of sound from a person’s headphones on the train, and you stop and listen. When you realize the genre of the music, prepare to hit the streets and run! The song will become instantly catchy and be stuck in your head for weeks.
Because SM Entertainment launched SMTown Live World Tour III in Los Angeles in the United States just a month ago, with favourite pop artists such as Girl’s Generation, SHINee, Super Junior, TVXQ, EXO and f(x), and new song releases from Big Bang and Shinee, I will probably hear non-stop Korean music in my house all summer long (thanks to my loving siblings)!
I admit, I do have some favourite artists I occasionally listen to, such as Taeyang and CN Blue, but I won’t reveal my music preferences or tastes to you right here folks, aside from the classical music, because it gets bizarre from there.
My approach to make sure I do not develop a Korean pop coma (I call Korean pop music very very happy Backstreet Boys music) and descend to point of no return (meaning, I will probably break down and request the Girl’s Generation poster to be switched over to my bedroom wall). So please enjoy some insights into Korean culture, music and song covers- wishing everyone a very Happy don’t-stop-till-you-drop Korean Summer Dance Party!
