When winter first began I received a request on the different ways to wear a scarf. I thought it would be really difficult to explain how to wear them because of the complicated  instructions it requires, but thought it was an amazing idea. I found a great video that shows a few different ways to wear a scarf, some of them that are very unique and all of them are easy!

What to wear them with:

Scarves look good with almost everything! You can wear them with any sort of shirt (v-neck sweater, t-shirt, thermals, etc.) layer it with sweaters and cardigans, wear them with dresses (possibly using it as shawl) or blazers. The only tricky part is how you wear it, and with what. Most of the time any way is great for any top, but for example, when paired with a blazer, it should be a thin, sleek, and translucent so that it compliments the whole outfit rather than overpowering it. The great thing about scarves is that you could be wearing an outfit consisting of all black, and add a pop of colour  by adding a bright red scarf.

My favourite types of scarves:

  • A rising trend is the infinity scarf otherwise known as the circle scarf. I’ve been wearing these since the winter of last year and they’ve become one of my staple pieces for this season. I love having it look chunky and big around my neck, as opposed to wearing it in the short loop, long loop formation. They are especially warm and effortless to wear.
  • I love ruffle scarves! I find myself reaching for one of these almost daily, because they give me the same chunky feel as an infinity scarf but with some femininity. It’s possibly get the best of both worlds when they are combined to create a ruffly circle scarf.
  • Neutrals have been a great colour scheme for this season especially because of the ongoing army trend. I normally wear all black because I like wearing dark colours, so when I discovered chocolate brown scarves this season, I couldn’t help but love them.

I love wearing scarves, and I know that they are everywhere. I almost feel like you must wear one if you are wearing a pea-coat (dressy coat, often seen with double-breasted buttons).  They are extremely versatile, can compliment any outfit and most of all, warm!
