1. Begin your day with making someone else happy and drink something warm.
When you feel like sadness is going to engulf you, indulge yourself with a warm cup of tea or coffee. Let the toasty liquid soothe your soul and read a good book. Let out a sigh of relief, knowing that even the saddest moments of your life will come to an end eventually.
2. A good laugh and a long sleep are the two best cures for everything.
Both will swallow your bitter thoughts of anger when your mind is not thinking rationally. It will fold you in and remind you that although you feel like drowning right now, you’ll be able to swim the twilights when you wake up. You will be awakened by a fresh sunrise when the sky drinks in the sun and coughs up a thousand specks of light. A good laugh will make your stomach ache and bring tears to your eyes, but it will also entangle your thoughts from reality and bury yourself from the brutal honesty of your life. Even if this is just for a little while, you will get a chance to exhale all the hatred and darkness.
3. Finish your work right away instead of procrastinating because then you will have more time for fun (or do nothing and watch Netflix)
Why are we so unhappy? This is because we’re always stressed with studying, with school and everything just becomes lodged in our throats and minds. We keep everything until the end and that itself becomes a bad habit. The sleep-deprived nights just bring down our moods in general, so get your work done before having fun! 🙂
4. Work out. Find time to do it, or make time. The endorphins make you happier!
When you’re sweating and working your heart to it’s limits, everything else seems to slip away. When you don’t feel like talking, and when your thoughts are screaming, it’s okay to be quiet because when you exercise it’s no longer deafening. The endorphins seem to miraculously make you happier as well!
5. Do one thing that you love a day that you aren’t forced to do.
We all carry the weight of being obligated to get things done. Forced to get over with it even if we don’t enjoy it. Well let yourself go and treat yourself to a splurge of happiness. Even if that means losing yourself in a book, sunrise or distant memories. Write poetry, write anything and take in everything around you.
Bonus: Listen to your favourite song! 🙂
