shout out to my homegirl Marnie!

Hi all! Long time no post (sorry!). But with the looming first day of school right around the corner, I figure I may as well shed some autumnal light over the metaphorical overcast skies that is the back to school season (if that was too poetic for you – or just a straight up bad attempt at being poetic- basically I’m going to rave over my favourite season). For those of you who don’t know, I am a born and raised first-gen Canadian. That means I deal with snow as late as May- or since 2014 seems to be a record breaking year- June. That being said, Autumn is my absolute  favourite season 1. because it’s my birthday and 2. feeling my power rise in tandem with the increase in vampy lipsticks and the inevitable return of Halloweentown. Notice how I bolded “absolute”? That’s because I take my Autumn excitement very seriously. Now without further ado – my list of THINGS YOU GET TO BE AGGRESSIVELY EXCITED ABOUT IN THE COMING FALL.

1. It’s my birthday.

That’s right folks – this gal was a fall baby. Of course I have reason to be excited for fall! Not only do people gather for a day to celebrate the fact that I have survived many years on this planet – they do it with cake.

2. THE TRENDS.

This one I could talk about for ages. The second the first leaf falls off a tree, there is an awakening in every burgeoning soon-to-be fashion icon.  Those pretty and subtle pastels get shoved aside for the attention-demanding confidence inducing colours that makes every girl feel like Natalie Dormer – that is to say, admired from afar with a healthy dose of fear and respect.

3. The drinks.

Ok. You know the one. The highly praised PSL of legend. The legendary drink that binds people all over the world – the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Is it overhyped? Probably. Does that make it taste any less delicious? Absolutely not.

4. The sweaters.

Every year people go on the hunt for that perfect oversized sweater – effortlessly chic and perfectly slouchy. From the fisherman’s sweater to a sleek yet unkempt cable knit – the perfect sweater is out there. Which brings me to my next point –

5. SWEATER PAWS.

Ok, I swear I am not the only one that does this. But (and if you deny this you’re lying) I find a great satisfaction when my sweater sleeves reach that perfect length where they go past my wrist and end right at my knuckles. It’s great for cupping too-hot drinks, and it makes me feel about 20 times better. For me, nothing says autumn like a good sweater that I can tuck my knees into and the adequate sleeve length for sweater paws.

Alright guys. That’s my top 5 – what’s yours?
