Did you know that the World Vision 30 Hour Famine started in our very own city of Calgary? The first 30 Hour Famine began in 1971, when 17-year-old Ruth Roberts and his friends had a church basement event in Calgary to raise money for children suffering during a famine. Today, thousands of teens across Canada and several other countries pledge money and then fast for 30 hours. This year, I encourage everyone to become part of this amazing fundraising effort.

The 30 Hour Famine is one of the largest World Vision events, and together in unity with other youth, we can fight against hunger. To those in developing counties, many do not have adequate access to food, and they struggle to have enough to eat every single day. If you do not like the idea of a 30 hour fast, there are other ways to be involved, such as making direct donations or to give up something that they would not do normally. These participants can fast by giving up on things like cellphones, TV, social media, snacks, etc. Everyone and anyone can get involved to fight hunger in the 30 Hour Famine.
