The 17th Annual Youth Hiring Fair will be held in the Big Four building in Hall B on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. It begins at 1:30pm and ends at 6:00pm. Although the fair takes place on a weekday, there’s still time to get there after school ends.
An expected 5,000 youth will be there with about 80 employers ready to interview you! So be prepared with copies of your resume and dress as if you were going to a regular interview (formal), plus admission to the fair is free!
Make sure to check out their list of employers and research about the company you would like to work for beforehand. The job opportunities are categorized into the minimum age that they are willing to hire. When greeting the representative at the booth of the company that you wish to work at, say your name, list any experience (volunteer, work experience etc.) you’ve had that relates to the job and ask a lot of questions. Asking questions will make you seem more informed and ready to be interviewed and work.
So to summarize…
1) Dress appropriately (No casual clothes!)
2) Update/bring lots of copies of your resume
3) Research companies you would like to work for
4) Prepare pitch (Introduction, name, experience etc.)
5) Be prepared for an on-the-spot interview!
