Heyyy! I’m back with some essential teen movie recommendations that you NEED to watch before graduating high school. I’ve included a sentence-long description of each and of course, the rating 🙂
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
He fakes being sick (and succeeds) HOW?? but the hype is real..this guys a PG-13
The Breakfast Club
Y’all remember that one Victorious episode when the gang was in detention and they bought tacos and gave Robbie a glow-up? Well this is the original. It’s kinda controversial to watch it in the 21st century (hence it’s rated R) but it’s definitely worth a watch.
10 Things I Hate About You
I love the plot and it has so many hidden life lessons, but ohh the chemistry *chefs kiss* this guys’ a PG-13
Juno
Essentially, “Juno”, a high schooler gets pregnant, and viewers get to witness her beautiful, light-hearted story. This one’s a PG-13
Love, Simon
An amazing movie that explores a LGBTQ+ relationship between two teen boys trying to come out. I personally love the plot for this one. A sweet PG-13.
Legally Blonde
A stereotypical blonde girl breaks societal expectations by enrolling in Harvard Law. A decent PG-13. Not your typical Harvard video essay, but..
The Edge of Seventeen
Her only best friend slept with her brother.. you can guess the rest. A scandalous rated R.
Kings of Summer
These teens legit run away from home to live in the wilderness. A not-so-decent rated R.
The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants
Before a quad of besties depart after high-school they find a pair of jeans that somehow perfectly fit all of them. They vow to always honour their friendship as we see the bumps and smooth roads of a part of each of their lives. There is also a second movie, which I have not yet watched. A very nice PG.
Five Feet Apart
The only movie that has made me cry. A beautiful story between two teens with cystic fibrosis who are ordered to stay six feet apart, but choose to only distance the five.
Bonus: Boyhood
This is probably my favourite movie ever. The director literally filmed the boy and his “family” for 12 years, watching them grow up. I don’t believe any other movie has been made like this. I could die to watch this movie again. Beautiful story but rated R.
That’s all from me! Let me know if I missed any big ones in the comments below, and as always, if you have any comments, concerns or questions, feel free to reach out to me at ranyabajaj1@gmail.com [1]
